Title: Quick release boss
Post by: Bulldog67 on February 02, 2011, 06:00:49 PM
I have a quick release steering boss (hub?) on the CJ, and momo steering wheel, and I wanna do the same again on the Bastard just to make it considerably harder for the thievin scum that will be drawn to it, but im havin a senior/blond/stoopid moment and cant for the life of me remember what i need to buy to get this set up, and the CJ is too far away to go have a look, so can anyone help?

All i can remeber is last time i got stuff from JEGS in the US  :017:

Cheers

How about trying caterham cars or Dax or some other kit car firm
As they tend to use them

looks solid dood, but i like the idea that the snap-off is unique, coz its always in the back of my mind that if someone really wanted the cj it would take much to go get their own quick release and wheel

and im avoidin US if i can

:003: so what else ya got for me?

all a removeable steering wheel is going to do is stop the chance thief, if someone really wants it, it will go no matter what you do

Mole grips work well when you have no wheel :icon_super:

solid metre high bollards in the drive front and behind it, plus immobiliser and no steering wheel wont put off anyone off who is lustin real real bad for it, but it will give me enuff time to tool up and smash the granny out of any fucks that fancy takin it for a joy ride

plus i have some neighbours that aint tossers so will also make it obvious to them that someone is takin it when i aint around

i cant be all in ghandi passive coz if i lose it i will be a broken man for a good while  :010:

whoops  :icon_redface: bad link

how bout this one for the boss: http://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p9026/Momo-Steering-Boss-for-JEEP-CJ7-No-Airbag/product_info.html (http://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p9026/Momo-Steering-Boss-for-JEEP-CJ7-No-Airbag/product_info.html)

this steering wheel: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320651379064&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_1283wt_989 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320651379064&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_1283wt_989)

and this release: http://www.snap-off.com/ (http://www.snap-off.com/)

does that work as a package?

im pretty sure the stock steering wheel is 15-16" so dont really wanna go lower than 14" on summink the size of the Bastard

Have I found the cheaper and more efficient solution?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Quick-Release-Splined-Steering-Hub-Black-/160601154174?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item256493227e#ht_2119wt_953 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Quick-Release-Splined-Steering-Hub-Black-/160601154174?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item256493227e#ht_2119wt_953)

The steering wheel they do with it is only 1/2" less wide as well

did it really take you 11 months to find that ?
Title: Re: Quick release boss
Post by: Bulldog67 on January 02, 2012, 10:35:18 AM
restarted from afresh for the Chief, figured it wouldnt hurt to try from a different angle rather than copying the old set up: this time i worked from the steering wheel and back

the last search was for the J10, which should work fine but was painful financially, and of course started with the hub

i understand the security bit but think them gay
Title: Re: Quick release boss

purely security dood

its always a shame to take out a well worn steering wheel

altho the J10 one is already sold :icon_super:
