Title: CJ front disc brake conversions
Post by: IrishCJ6 on February 03, 2011, 09:28:55 AM
My CJ6 has a Stainless Steel Brake Corp front disc conversion on it, I'm trying to track down a replacement disc rotor for it. I of course went back to SSBC to get one off them but they want an absolute crazy price for the disc and freight. I'm of the belief that the rotor is off an International Scout II (year unknown). I was wondering if anyone on here has any ideas where I could find one of these rotors from as I have brought 2 so far and both times they were the wrong ones,

My current disc size is as below: 11 3/4" diameter 5 on 5.5" Stud pattern 4 2/16" central hole 1 3/16" disc thickness 1 1/2" from front disc face to wheel mount face The 2 measurements that seem to cause the problems are the central hole diameter and the measurement from the front disc face to the wheel mount face.

Any help would be appreciated

I've tried getting the info off SSBC, but they must have figured that I was trying to source elsewhere and wouldn't give the info out. I was told via Jeepforum.com that it was the International Scout II rotor but they couldn't tell me a exact year

Unfortunatley its not, every measurement except the central hole and the spacing between the disc face and the wheel mount face is different, that is the disc I just brought thinking it was the right one, when I got news that the disc size and thickness + stud pattern was right I thought it must be correct. Silly me :icon_toilet:

You'll be happy to know i've finally sourced and received a new disc rotor to replace my damaged one, a really sound chap in the US (not even a jeep owner) found it and shipped it out to me, the only mod I have to do is bore the central hole out by 6mm everything else is perfect.

So if anyone needs a set of standard CJ5/CJ7 front rotors I have a set and want to part with them to allow monies to be spent elsewhere on the project
