Post by: Anonymous on November 19, 2005, 10:04:51 PM
okay then I am noticing the bigger tyres, whats the options on easy performance (yeah right)
What bhp do you get from an air filter, cat back exhaust, borla headers, TB spacer etc :?:

Re-gear
Air filters, TBs etc May give you a tiny bit, but it's the gearing that will bring back the momentum :D

k and n gives up to 15 bhp, tbs gives a deffo midrange improvement, exausts also make quite a diferance. think the air is the first one to do mate. then the exaust to get the fumes out as quick as poss. 8)

I have a K&N full intake and a vortex back box replacement, makes a VERY noticable difference indeed. The vortex is superb makes it sound like a monsterm, the intake noise is nice too  ;)
It was developed from drag racing exhaust systems and is designed to pull out the gases, there was a review of it on TOR I think and also a lot of other mags.
Give the vortex guys a ring, nice blokes and very knowledgable.

I have a K&N, and a TBS, but the new exhaust is in the shed at the moment as I had problems changing it.

And the old exhaust has a kink above the rear axle and it has REALLY made the performance worse....  Saying that, I can still sit happily at ~ 65 - 70 in 5th with 31's and standard gearing back from CF. 4up and I pretty much loose 5th gear at the moment.... when I finally work out how to get the f'ing old exhaust off of the lip behind the cat, i'll let you know how good the performance is... :)

EE

Gap between the Cat and the Silencer is about 2"... not even big enough to get decent sixe hammer in there.... tried a 5ton puller and it wasn't going anywhere :( Think it needs heat... and lots of it.... not handy at this time of year :)

Tis not welded, can twist it round, but the "P" clip has been done up FT and it's put a lip in the join, and will it come apart.... Not for me it won't :(

Nah, just need time to go chat to my pet mechanic and get him to remove the old one.... Got some time off over xmas so may get it sorted then.
