Title: 2.7 diesel, question before i view.
Post by: jay140285 on February 17, 2011, 10:47:35 PM
Going to look at a jeep grand cherokee tomorrow, its a 2002 car and covered 80k. Are these engines cam belt or chain driven.

Depending on which, when does the belt need changing or the tensioners doing.

Cheers

Yer a sharpe pull up will get it off

if there is a black tar like mess around the injectors this would point to
the copper seals have blown
i got a set of 5 plus the stretch bolts you need for £15 off ebay

however fitting them can be a nightmare as you have to drop the back of the engine to access the rear 2

and somtimes the injectors can be a pig to get out

But all worth it in the end

Check the gearbox is perfect. They are treated as a sealed unit with the oil and filter being the only serviceable parts.
You don't fix them, you replace them.

Both transmission codes. P0700 needs to be read by a DRBIII scan tool to see what the real fault is.
You really don't want the expense of transmission problems on a WJ CRD.

Walked away from that one, got all the fault codes on my phone. Don't want anything with gear box faults

Brought one,

A 53plate, 80k on the clock, silver limited, black leather etc etc, Exceptional condition, everything worked perfectly, all blend doors ok, both heated seats working big file of history.

Injector seals replaced in October last year,

Full service history, no faults showing when carried out the key test, gear box lovely and smooth and the 2.7 diesel pulled well.

Mother in Law left a deposit and we collect it on Monday night.

Result, got 2 WJ's in the family now.
