The connector for the radio aerial has come away from the rear side glass antenna. How can I re fix it ?
Any help would be most appreciated.
-
you could try the glue you use to stick rearview mirrors on with, then the heated rear window repair stuff to
make the electrical contact again.
-
The connector through the glass is very small, with the antenna wires in the glass.
I tried carefully soldering it, but now I don't even get any static !
-
think its time for an "accident" and see if the insurance covers side glass as well as windscreens.
or you could try and find a stick on replacement.
found this on ebay item no. 390291873835

Hi, Seems as if I have to put another antenna on as you suggest. It looks like I'll have to follow the wires back from the rear glass through the headliner as they are not regular aerial coax. Does anyone know if they go to the amplifier under the rear seat or to the radio unit ?

Hi again, Dealership reckons a new side window with antenna which then has to be fitted by windscreen company. £ £ £ £ £ £
-
the dealership would say that,
had a look at the fsm and it says the antenna just plugs into the back of the radio as normal.
so you could get a new stick on arial and put it at the top of the windsreen and run the wires down the passenger side A piller under the trim
you might need to cut and join the plug that goes into the radio
-
It looks like that is the only option, certainly the cheapest !
-
how much were they wanting for a new side window?
was looking at new headlights for mine for when the plastic goes milky, new mopar ones $580 a pair!!!!!, bargin!!!!!
-
The antenna has it's own amplifier in the roof.

Well I just fitted a new stick on glass antenna with amplifier and plugged it right into the radio unit.
Nothing !
Not even static !
The display still shows NO RDS and when tuning in to known frequencies it is still dead !
