Title: Up Country or similar mod
Post by: MudSurfer on March 23, 2011, 02:17:18 PM
Hi - I've not had my WJ for long, but wanted to know where I can get a set of Up Country shocks and springs, and possibly sway bar from - or, if not Up Country, then something that will have a similar effect, i.e. lifting it slightly, but giving it a slighter harder ride?

I've looked all over webland, and just seem to keep coming back to US places, and having to use my US mail address to ship it over more cheaply - any other ideas?

TIA

I've heard of this place they call, Welshpool - I always thought it was a reservoir full of strange folk with a curious language.....

Cheers, I'll find David and give him a shout

I would go for  4" lift straight away I did a 2" & now regret it. Llama does the 4" Rough Country lift.

I thought about it, briefly, but most of my miles are on road these days, and I have the use of my wife's modded Surf if I want to play in the mud, and I just wanted a stiffer ride, and not too wobbly on the bends.....

+2" lift gets expensive, you need a new front prop if you have a CV style one. +3" you do need a front adjustable track bar. Keeping it under 2" I would get OME springs & some Rough Country oil shocks, they are well matched. You don't need to uprate the ARB below 2"

Actually, you have a 2.7 so already have the +1" "up country" springs. Bear in mind all US spec lifts quote the lift for a petrol model, so take off 1" of the lift they give. TBH with a 2.7 I would deffo go for the OME springs, maybe the HD ones as they give around .75" more lift over the standard ones

Nice one - thanks - I never realised that I had that already....and now, I can use it, the smiley I've waited my whole life for..... :ace:

Now that's out of the way, I have some nitro shocks on the way from Llama-Dave in a couple of weeks, so I'll bung them on and see how it feels.  Like I said, I don't need a lift, just a firmer ride....ooohh errr....

Glad I've found this site, it's the springer's swingers... :003:

I don't get the firm shock thing, I always use oil shocks over the gas ones
