Hi Guys,
i was directed to this site by a friend.
i have just bought a 2001 jeep and the front diff is making a loud noise on lift off.
the service garage has informed me that it needs rebuilding.
i live in coventry and havent a clue where to go at the dealer say they dont rebuild diffs. (seemed odd as they are jeep dealer :banghead:).
so any help would be greatly met..
if anyone one on here can get the parts and fit id be happy to pay you than the faceless dealer.
thanks in advance
Joe.

It may not be the diff, I would check out the front prop first, the rear CV wearing out gives the same symptoms

Yes, check other things first - you'll have to be directed by the WJ folk, not a numpty like me!
There is a transmission/axle rebuilding shop in Cov, I'll try and find the name from the back of my brain and post it. There's also Ace Transmissions in Northampton which isn't that far away, probably others too in the Brum direction.

Are EDM still going?

hi all, sorry for the delay.
had some home issues... wel she's gone now and i still need to get the Jeep nice and healthy.
cov transmissions dont do the jeep stuff anymore due to an excessive failiure rate.
ill try the other companies...
Just want a one stop jeep place where i know, they know what they are doing and arnt looking to rip me off like a dealer might..
cheers guys.

I have used TCJ in Northampton a few times for different jobs that I couldn't do or find time to do myself.
TCJ Services

Probably 45-50 mins from Cov, depending where you are starting from.
Tom the owner is a nice guy and worked at Jeep for ages, also didn't mind me supplying parts he had trouble getting or could only get through the main dealer. I think he has the kit to rebuild diffs now (his tools got stolen a few years ago and he never replaced the diff stuff) and he'll also work out if it is the propshaft rather than the diff or if it's something else.
