Just replaced the heater core after it leaked, and I am now having problems getting the right functions to work on the direction selector knob. The hot and cold work fine and so do the speeds but the directions do not. It is a 98 xj with air con which also works.
I read in another post that it could be the heater door is damaged or jammed?
All on the cold setting
recirc air con = front demisters
face air con = front demisters
face and feet air con = side demist and feet
face = demisters
feet = side demist and feet
feet and demist = side demist, feet and a little on front demist
normal demist = ok
The ony difference seems to be when it is set to air con hot it comes through the centre dash vents?
Engine fault codes are throwing up 12,55,55 in that order
12 = battery power to pcm was disconnected not sure about 55?

There is now a sound of air leaking coming from the clear rubber bit at the back of the hoses which was not th[attachment=1]ere before how do I make this air tight again? as im thinking this is causing the problem with the vacuum control.

code 55 is end of codes

Also noticed that the only pipe sucking on the back of the unit is the brown one?

Also found this which is pretty much the same problem as I have apart from my cruise control still works. Where abouts is the vacuum check valve located in the engine bay?
Cheers.

Ok so done a bit more digging around and have come up with the following. All the actuators work that control the vents, there is no vacuum leak in the engine bay and the Diesel does not have a vacuum canister behind the bumper like the petrols it is an electronic unit in the engine bay.
The problem is the main large vacuum hose that comes from the engine bay into the cab has no where obvious to connect onto to provide the direction knob with the vacuum it needs to move the actuators. Where the hell does this pipe connect onto? :banghead: The pipe comes in under the passenger kick plate under the glovebox, dont suppose anyone would mind having a look at theirs to see where it connects onto?
