Title: Drilling an XJ front bumper

Need to fix a new number plate on and seem to remember something about haveing to be carefull where you drill. Is there anything in the front bumper??

Don't drill get some of that 2 sided number plate tape from Halfords

have some, doesnt stick in this weather and the plate comes off too easily offroading

put it on with velcro then you can take it off when you are froadin & you wont break it or lose it

Cable ties and gaffer tape :)

Mine is now held on with Cable ties to the light bar, couldn't bring myself to drill into my nice new bumpers :)

its too cold to stick anything on, i am going to drill it but need to know if there is anything in the bumper, seem to remember there is an air tank for something in it (?)

Is it the sensor for the airtemperature display?

on the early ones the tank is behind the passenger side end under the headlight.........

found so 1/2in self tappers so wont stick through the bumper much, off to drill it now, if there are sparks or hissing i'll no i've fooked it :roll:

no hissing, drilled and tapped a 4mm hole and bolted the numberplate on, nice and sturdy XJ bumpers  :banghard:  wonder if owen could break one?

I thought owen breaking things was inevitable, we just guessed at how long before it happened... Never considered the "Could owen break this" concept... defoo a when will he  :twisted:
