I ever get around to chopping the roof off my blue cherokee widetrack (it looks more likely now I have got another, undamaged one)
Will I have to submit it for an IVA like a kit car :017:
Or can I just insure it as a modified vehicle and carry on with its original reg number :017:

no.

2 questions: are ya answerin 'no' to both :017:

ok it won't need an iva as you have not done anywork to the chassis so it will be fine, you can keep the original reg and number on it as it will retiain enough of the original vehicle to not matter/qualify and it will be up to your insurance company if you need to get a engineers report but you have to declare it as it was not a original option.
does that clear it up?

maybe :003:

the engineering report can be a farce to start with. Not sure if insurance companies require you to visit certain places now but i've always been told as long as the person has or is a member of a mechanical engineering body (membership and accreditation) then they can perform the inspection and submit a report on the modifications made.
