Title: Screaching Belt or tensioner (where to get the kit from)
Post by: Cockney Boy on May 02, 2011, 05:11:20 PM
I'm getting the nasty screeching sound from the belt on my 4.0L TJ. So i think its time for a change. I understand that you can buy kits that include the belt, tensioner and also the oil pump. Any of you guys recommend a good supplier?

yep try the stealer first, then when you have it off check all the pulleys for play, tightness

then go from there and a tip, make a drawing of the way the belts run before removing  :greggmo:

Erm..... are we thinking this is some kind of cam belt? Oil pump? it's under the distributor in the sump. The serpentine belt (which I assume is what you mean) doesn't come in a kit of parts. Get a new one, when it's off spin the idler pulleys, alternator and water pump and make sure they run nice and smooth, if one is rough replace that too.
