I wonder if anyone has fitted one of these? After my visit to FTE today, if the rain allows, I should have my TJ rear SSBC brakes and handbrake refitted and fully serviced and working properly by the end of play tomorrow.

one of these to try out, in line on my rear brake lines, I will wire it up so I have a control in the cab.
I like the idea, and I will try it out on my next winch challenge. If it works well, I may well fit another to the front brake lines, so I can lock the whole vehicle up

Seen something like this before -how long does it lock the line???

As far as I can see, these sol v/v's are normally open, so as long as they don't leak they should hold for as long as the coil is energised.
I am trying to get some degree of better hand brake, I expect I will find once i put it all back together again (the ssbc), that it will now work fine, however what I am interested in is being able to park my TJ up a slope I have just winched up, and not roll back to whence I came.
from what I can see with these inline sol v/v's, I could potentially pipe them up to each individual corner, forming a type of electrical fiddle brake system.
I'll try it out and see how it goes

they use them a lot on dragsters to lock the front brakes on so they can do a decent burnout, you can use them on road cars as well as long as you leave the mechanical handbrake in place for the mot, you can also get a manual version.

Mmmmmmmmmmm could work - please keep me informed could use this on the Buggy.
For the Mafia I went a different route - that is - I use the propshaft brake from Tom Woods works a treat but eats the brake pads, also the Mafia has the CNC Buggy brakes as on strike one the Buggy.

it's a bit daft as you can only have a mechanical cable handrake to make a vehicle legal but cant have a full hydro system, either way if one fails you have no handbrake system.
renault state in the handbook on certain models that the vehicle must be left in gear as the rear disk handbrake releases when the disk unit cools down allowing the car to roll away when parked on an incline

yes, i saw the mechanical one but decided I didn't want to route my brake lines through the cab, If the one i get works on the rear well, I may well get one for the front, not sure if i want to get one for each corner, but could be useful.
IOM, I'll let uou know how I get on.
My brakes nearly work now, I have gone to no handbrake and ok brakes, to good handbrake and no brakes as one of my front stainless brake lines has ruptured :icon_rolleyes:

cleggy has a line-lock / hydro handbrake on his TJ which must weigh well over 2 tons and he can park it on any hill no problems, the handbrake will hold anything (he's also friendly with his MOT tester I believe :icon_winkle:)

As far as I can ascertain, they are legal, as long as you leave the mechanical handbrake still working as you must have a 2ndary method of holding the vehicle.
Well I've replaced my SS hose and now have an ok handbrake and spongy brakes, have tried bleeding several times. Bleedin things are a PITA

When I lent a hand on the brakes on 'Double J's' rig, we were going to fit a line lock that I know Demon Tweaks do.
Tis just a larger version of a fuel tap......... (brake size of course)........ mount it on the floor near gear stick and there you go. no elex no solenoids..... have one for each side if ya want .
Manumatic.........simple........... however never fitted it so can't verify but logic says gotta work........ as I have no hand/hill/e-brake on the 1 ton might be going this route....................
Just remembered :jpshakehead: I've got a hydraulic handbrake to left of drivers seat (LHD) works on rears but was never strong because Dana 44 drums are shite...... might be better on my 3/4 ton discs I hope. Can't think how I nearly forgot that?? :017:

got these on the shelf of "stuff I bought for projects but changed my mind" sat at home, they are sold as park locks but was going to use as a primitive break steer on one of my Nivas, one to lock the left wheels and one for the right.
