Hello i bought a bestop soft top off ebay for my 98 wrangler witch i thought was a bargain, but when i came to fit it there are no plastic clips to clip on with across the top of the door's just Velcro and the corners on the header bar doesn't seem to fit that well . does anyone know what this top is for ?
Cheer's Chris.

you need a few extra parts by the sound of it, the header bar is different and 2 plastic pieces which go down the door from memory.
Go on the Bestop web site and download the fitting manual, you can then work out what model it is and what you need. All this is presuming it actually is for a TJ
i think it will have a sticker on it somewhere with the part no of the top
Good luck :greggmo:

Item number: 130516710830
This is the Ebay number, the description sounds like it s a genuine Jeep Top but it's a Bestop item which I dont have a problem with, I just wished it'd fit my Jeep!!! I think it's the one that should fit with the Bestop Hardware, not the genuine Jeep. Cheers Chris

the frames and are very different in makeup so you would needd a bestop frame to fit it, you do have the plastic door surrounds that are required on a tj as well don't you?
-
Ebay listing/pic doesn't help as its a library pic (& defo not the factory top shown).
Bestop ones need bestop frames, although the Bestop replace a top drops straight onto the factory frame. But then if someone has mounted it on the frame wrong that may explain the corners on the header.
Post some pics & we'll try to diagnose.
Soft-top or dual top TJs have the 2 plastic door surrounds & tailgate bar in addition to the frame/softop assembly & windows.
I think bestop make the tops for the factory in anycase so don't worry about the name etc.

Velcro across the top of the doors? Surely that would be for a YJ/CJ? I've had both factory and multiple Bestops, all had velcro...... :017:
YJs and TJs are very, very different!

here's some pics of the top[attachment=1][attachment=2][attachment=3][attachment=4]

that definitely looks like a YJ softtop

-

I may have been wrong (it does happen....)
This is totally different to any YJ Bestop I've seen :017: All the YJ ones I've had used 2 zips on the side windows and 3 on the rear window, not a single zip run on each window.
My thinking is that this is indeed for a TJ, but you would also need the Bestop frame and hardware to fit it.
Perfect replacement for a worn out Bestop though :icon_winkle:
