Well, after the time (and considerable amount of money) spent on getting the Jeep back up and working, part of the process involved a lot of cranking of the engine, and recently when starting, it's let out a squeal similar to one you'd hear if you turn the key when the engine is already running (but in this case, the engine wasn't). I wonder if this is because I've toasted the started while trying to sort out the injector issues??
Any ideas?

possibly or you may have damaged the starter ring

Mudsurfer dude,
Doesn't sound good mate. Told you to leave it alone.
Hope its just the starter motor that's playing up. :icon_rolleyes:

Might be waterpump on it's way

Not sure about modern Jeeps but possibly just a knackered solenoid not engaging pinion into ring gear before the starter spins up?
Put the vehicle in gear and roll it forward a bit, back into neutral, then try again.
If it starts fine I'd suspect a worn ring rear, or if you get the same horrid grinding ringing screech of the famous but rarely seen Wallet Owl, then I'd go with your first guess.

I would possibly go with this, My MX5 used to do it, several re tries of the key and it would fire up.
