Title: TJ Swaybar
Post by: gazjeep on June 28, 2011, 09:45:55 PM
After busting & bending my disconnects at Clyro, can somebody (MOCAJ  :003:) just check the length from end to end of the swaybar please.

Just want to make sure I haven't bent that too.

New Disconnects on order, best clean the bugger soon  :icon_super:

Gaz,

the distance between the centres of the bolts which hold on those 2 U shaped brackets for your disconects is 35"

the weak point was the weld on the disconnect which as we know failed. if you had bent the sway bar then it would have bent with earlier in the day when the disconnect was intact

Just checking, I know they sit on an angle, the weld snapping is one thing but the other one being bent up too has made me think to check the sway bar before I fit the new ones  :icon_winkle:

Cheers Stew, its not the fitting, I would value MJS's opinion on the set up & angles especially laterally.

When viewing from the front, they seemed to lean out towards the wheel somewhat, hence me asking MOCAJ for length of sway bar ;)

Last MOT, I had to get new bushes for them as they seemed a little distorted, wondered if this was a contributing factor to recent failure ;)
