Title: Gear box not playing nice on WJ
Post by: jay140285 on July 16, 2011, 04:56:10 PM
Afternoon all,

Bloody typical, sold the VRS this afternoon then go out in the Jeep,

4.7V8 2002 Grand Cherokee.

It clunked and felt like it missed a gear, then stayed in what felt like 3rd with no changes. Engine management light on and fault code P0700.

Turn car off, upon re start it selects 1st again and all is good for a short while until it does the same again.

Only got a week before we head off to France with the caravan in tow so need to sort asap.

Cheers

James

To the garage and hook it up to the 'puter.

Get the transmission scanned for faults. Speed sensors are a common failure on those.

Output speed sensor, quick scan on the way to work this morning where I had my Gas done as they have the dealer scan tool.

Ordered input and output from Wolverhampton Jeep this morning, arrived Wednesday for collection.
