looking for some ideas and guidence here.
we had a cracked clutch hydrolic pipe just short of the slave unit.
we cut out the small cracked section and joined the pipe back together with hydrolic push fit connector, this held up for about 2yrs,then started to leak at the joint, suspect failed push fit connector, replaced, still leaking, recut pipe, still leaking, think you really need a cut clean cut and surface for these to work...we are only going to get one more shot at it then the gap will be to wide, could i make a join section with some 8mm copper or nylon pipe, but would the bore size be an issue...after all you bleed the system and it come up to pressure to work and its a closed system once done......i do have another full pipe from the master to the slave but looks a lot of hassle to fit.
any idea,s

think of it this way do you want the hassle bodge fit the broken pipe a number of times trying to get it to seal or replace the whole lot in one go with the correct part you have? FIT the correct part as the time you want it to work the temp fix will fail

The worse part is getting the nuts up under the dash, my suggestion is to get someone small to get to them :icon_redface:

nuts under the dash, its just the pipe we are changing out if it comes to it,the master will be staying put, looked at a scrap xj and it looks like just roll pins holding it all together at the top end for fixing the pipe to the master, hardest part looks like moving stuff out the way and shoogling the new pipe into place, two man job, looks cramped at the top end for ma fat hands.
we will see how we get on,but the bodge fit is a get me by till i get the new pipe put in,dont use the car anymore due to work, so it can sit forever anyway.
regards to all

yep. its roll pins if your just replacing the pipe, then getting the air out.
There should be a grub screw on the slave where you can bleed it :greggmo:

seen a very intresting idea on youtube, this chap gets an old reservoir cap, mods it by adding a tyre valve to it,filling reservoir with fluid, puts tha cap on,open the bleed valve on the slave, then injects low pressure air in forcing fluid through the system, stopping to top up reservoir with fluid as you go,says it works a treat.
just got to get up off ma backside and get this done...starting to miss the cherokee noise on a hot summers day with the engine fan going like the clappers, always a head turner.
