Title: need help whilst in France
Post by: jay140285 on July 28, 2011, 03:25:17 PM
Right, before we came away has P0700 fault code, got it read and needed output sensor on the gearbox. I put in a new input and output sensor and all seemed ok, coming down whilst towing it played up, stuck in 3rd but got here ok.

Everything then reset and all ok, been out today and gearbox clonked a few times and now stuck in 3rd again.

Not sure if I will do damage using the car still?

Any ideas, only thing I can think of is get it into a Jeep dealer over here. Can anyone find out where the contact details for the Nearest Jeep dealer is to Saumur, in the Vallee de la Loire.

I can log back on every couple of hrs to see suggestions. Cheers Guys.

Bugger, that's about an hour away at least. Mmmmmm is driving it going to be detrimental to the gear box?

PM Jeeper Eagle.  He's not a million miles away from you in Vire just to the North of you.

Knowing the area and speaking the local lingo (I suppose) he might be able to come up with
something closer.

No he is in Vire Normandy.....prolly 200 km north of you.  Maybe not such a good idea.

The place in Angers is the closest Jeep dealership...50K at most ?

Saint-Sever-Calvados is a good location to search for Jeeper Eagle - he's got everything needed to fix most things on an older Jeep but I'm not sure if the newer electrical gremlins might be a bit much anyway.

I'd suggest going to a dealership with a phrase book - if it's got a code they'll probably take it from there. Friends of mine did the same with their Fiat while over there and they said service was excellent and the job of 1.5hrs only cost them 119 EUR including parts (diesel filter and assembly IIRC).

Cheers all, Jeeper is on the case for me, he is looking for a specialist close to Saumur, posted on the French jeep forum. If not its off to Angers.
