Just supposing I were to buy a ZJ 4.0 auto with a suspect back axle :017:
What is it likely to cost me in the worst case scenario :017:
-
how deeps your wallet? I know people who it has cost them more than they paid for the jeep to get it rebuilt.remember its a weak point on one and if you are going to use it for towing even weaker.
-
I just been enquiring about one which has " a slight whine coming from the rear end"
Apparently this is not caused by any fault in the axle but by a worn suspension bush which can be replaced for a few quid.

:lol_hitting: so they guys a dealer then and trying to fob it off I take it?
-
No
I think the seller is private
Probably their friendly tame mechanic who services the vehicle for them, has told them the axle is on the way out, and has recomended a line of speil to help them unload it onto some unsuspecting punter.
-
£210 in parts from lighthouse
thats friction plates and full bearing set, if it needs more than that would recon best to go for a reconditioned axle at about £500 exchange
-
Run a way unless is next to nothing
-
just kin buy it run it till it blows then fix it there is no sane reason for folk to pay the amount they do for rebuilds they gettin royaly ripped off
-
:iagree: if its a jeep you got to add a few zero's to any part to allow the importer to steal his share.
