Hi everyone.
just got my Jeep through the Mot but now it's backfiring spluttering etc,it drove fine to and from the test but on the way back from the post office it started to play up.
I've just recently changed crank & cam sensors and a new battery, the check engine light is on and the code thrown up on the dash is P0340 cam sensor ?? do i need to get the codes erased for the system to run correctly.
Thanks.

I'd say if the cam sensor is going to ground then it needs changing. And doing that before you do some real damage to the engine
-
I recently changed my cam sensor and the code disappeared as soon as I changed the part and fired it up. Did you buy a non-genuine sensor? I'm led to believe that 3rd party sensors can cause problems. When my cam sensor went it killed the engine, there was no rough running, just cut power to the coil.

Thanks for the replies.
I'm going to take to a mechanic friend tomorrow and get the codes cleared from the ecu.
i'll update as to what we find :icon_biggrin:
cheers.

Go onto Amazon.co.uk and buy yourself a 20 quid obdii scanner. They will read and reset your CELs.
That goes for everyone who reads this, just do it!

Hi all.
Just got back from getting my code reader and it's still running shite, with a nice bacolite smell coming from the engine, plugged the reader in and it looks like the coil pack has failed and by the temperature of one of the coils it's got to be the pack.
Question should i buy new or go for second hand as there are a few on Ebay.
Thanks.

new coil
-
Yep new coil pack it is,i have one winging it's way to me right now.
hopefully this will sort it out as i'm getting pissed off driving a shite Mondeo :078:

:iagree:

OK new coil pack installed drives fine for a while. If you stop the engine and leave it for 5 it has a misfire and throws up code PO353 ignition coil C Primary/ Secondary Circuit malfunction.
Same as before with the old coil pack ,ok the one i bought was from a dismantler with a garantee but why would the same bloody code come up again.
any ideas as this is driving me nuts, i love my jeep but this is taking the piss.

I had this happen on a late TJ. It was the crank sensor.
