4.7V8 WJ 2002.
As you know I have been having transmission issues of late,
Rob diagnosed it, with the use of Tanks scanner as "Shift Solenoid D" fault code P0765.
I have spoken to main dealer and he said it wasn't stocked but could get hold of the solenoid kit at a mere £400+.
No thank you, when I know the part in the U.S is around £50, but postage is high.
Lighthouse Jeep Parts are coming back to me today hopefully.
Does anyone have any ideas about places in the UK, or would an independent transmission specialist be able to help?
Cheers James

I can source a second hand one, just worried that I pay for a used one and then have it installed and its still defective.
-
You can get one from rockauto for $120 delivered, about 74 quid.
-
Have you got their contact details Tim,
I can cope with that quite happily.
-
rockauto.com
They have 2 listed, the governor solenoid, and the overdrive solenoid. Both are about the same price.
Put the code 60798224586869 in the "how did you hear about us" bit, and get 5% off.
-
Cheers Tim,
Much appreciated.

They're the wrong parts for a V8
-
Yep, he's right. Neither ebay one is for the 45rfe. The rockauto parts are the correct ones.
-
Mike what parts are the right parts? I don't want to get the wrong ones. What gearbox is mine?
-
Tim said which ones yours Jay,45RFE
-
Oh yes, sorry missed Tims post must have posted at same time as I did on phone.
I have emailed Rockauto's and awaiting their reply.
An I correct in saying there is only one sensor in mine or do I need 2???
I get confused and don't want to order the wrong bit.
Chryslerjeepparts wanted to sell my a complete valve block at £400+ and they solenoids at £180
-
I am not sure but I think yours would be worth taking apart and cleaning and flushing the block and putting a fresh filter in it , to see if that helps
( did forget earlier its a 45rfe! d'oh)
-
Anyone local got a pit or Ramp and a spare few hrs to advise me? I like Rob idea.
-
The 45RFE has a solenoid pack which isn't servicable as individual parts. You need part number 4799934AD
-
Is it removable and cleanable as Rob suggested. Is that worth a try before spending what is looking like an increasing amount of money of the pack?
-
mike is a genuine expert on new tin
-
You have to remove the valve body to access it. To be honest, given the cost of the parts (even the oil is very expensive) unless you're really confident messing about with auto transmissions, you might be better putting it into a local transmission shop. They should be able to confirm the diagnosis and fix it properly first time.
-
What should I be looking at paying ball park Mike? I know its hard to say but a rough idea.
As money is a bit tight until I get the Mondeo sold.
-
Yep, he's right. Neither ebay one is for the 45rfe. The rockauto parts are the correct ones.
Where are the parts on Rockauto, I have searched but cannot find them.
Cheers

-
Rockauto have the wrong parts listed. If you choose the V8, it lists the 42re transmission, which is wrong.
Sorry, they don't have what you need.
Here is a rebuild kit for the solenoid, http://cobratransmission.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=206022 (http://cobratransmission.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=206022)
otherwise you're looking at $250 even for a refurb.
-
Arrrrrr Bugger, how does my jeep have a part that no one lists / stocks.
-
Certain parts are only available from the manufacturer. You just found one.
-
Cheers Tim,
Dealer wanted mega money, Looks like its going to be parked up for a while.
