Title: CJ Radiators
Post by: IrishCJ6 on August 14, 2011, 03:02:09 PM
Well I have just discovered that the radiator I had was actually a Mercedes one to suit the old motor, looked so similar I never figured it until I went to pumb it up and its all different. Question is what do I replace it with, I'm running a AMC 360 so obviously a V8 type but what do I look for and what to look out for. Do I stay with Copper or do I go aluminium. I don't want anything flashy just one to do the job. Any comments welcomed.

I used the old unit from the 4.2 and had it recored, there was enough room in the original to have it triple cored and only cost an extra £20 over twin core, its not given any trouble even without the cowl, just as well as they are as hard rocking horse shit to find for real money.

bit of info here (http://www.birtydastards.com/frm/index.php?topic=10106.msg133270#msg133270)

For Auto equipped Vehicles the standard rad has a transmission cooler in the bottom tank. You may need to consider some extra transmission cooling if your transmission has to work hard. Its easy to overload the standard cooling system with the transmission heat. I also had a rebuild to add the 3rd core.

Well that is ok if you can get hold of a standard radiator but I couldn't so I did shell out for a fancy pancy one, Not too bad actually $$$$ wise, at least I know the thing will stay cool.

Why its a thing of beauty, not really needed for a offroader more show vehicle but its shinny now!!! Looks like a great piece of kit, well packaged and made, if the dam thing over heats with this monster I have no idea what I will do.
