Going from tevez to Akebone calipers, whats needed?
Is it just the calipers or are the carriers different too?

Yes you need the brackets too, the pads have different ears on them.

Hmmm, had a mooch on WJJEEPS and they dont list a different carrier, just calipers and pads :017:
TSB 05-003-02B - FRONT BRAKE PULSATION DURING LIGHT TO MODERATE BRAKE APPLICATION
Date: 12/16/02 (supersedes 0500302A Dated June 10, 2002)
Model Year(s): 1999-2002 (WJ models built through May 10, 2002)
Description: Brake roughness or pedal pulsation when the brakes are applied. The customer may experience a vibration of the steering wheel, floor, seat, instrument panel, or a minor pedal pulsation (brake roughness) under light to moderate pedal application. The condition may be caused by excessive thickness variation of the brake rotor surface.
Details: This bulletin involves the replacement of both front brake rotors and caliper assemblies. NOTE: NEW BRAKE ROTORS MUST BE USED WITH THE NEW BRAKE CALIPERS.
Diagnosis:
1. Determine if the front brake vibration/pulsation is caused by excessive thickness variation of either front brake rotor.
2. If excessive thickness variation of the front brake rotor is at fault perform the Repair Procedure.
3. If this bulletin has already been performed, and front brake pulsation/vibration is present, do not perform the Repair Procedure. Investigate other possible cases for front brake pulsation/vibration.
Parts required:
52098672 Rotor (MSRP: $65.10 ea.)
05093174AA Caliper kit (Left & Right calipers, brake pads, attachment bolts, banjo sealing washers)
04318080AB Brake fluid (DOT3/MS-4574)

when i did mine phoned the dealer to see if they still did the kits as it was only about £165! sorry on back order dont know when they will be available.
so had to get some off ebay, mansfield 4x4 have some listed item # 400240899187
the caliper slide pins dont unbolt, they stay attached to the bracket and the caliper is bolted on to the pins with short bolts.

Do these new calipers help the springs stay in??

Seems some ebay listings have them complete with the carrier, which is the jeep part number above I quoted, some sell just the caliper. Will ring around & make sure I get the complete unit not just the caliper
just caliper http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270786162755?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270786162755?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649)
whole unit (and more importantly same part number wjjeeps quote in the tsb as all you need) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330607948073?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330607948073?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649)

Right, all parts ordered from Mansfield. You have to be carefull ordering these as some places list the calipers with the brackets, some without. Either way I am £240 down but hopefully will not have dragging brakes by the end of the week :icon_rolleyes:
