not sure that would be my first choice for a trans africa drive but if you are then I think its what to take off before adding stuff, loose the LSD and as many electrics that you can while keeping it running.

also bear in mind that chances are you wont easily get spares for a ZJ in africa so cheapest might not be the best option

Much as I love Jeeps..... Agree with NB......

Jeep GC ain't gonna make it ...... or will cause you grief.........

If on a very tight budget you need to go for what they know out there that can be fixed bush stylee........ and that will be an old diesel non turbo or electrickery Lard Rover.

Further up the ladder the Taliban gun ship.......... Toyota Hilux...........

Then hard to get over here Toyota Troopy as they call them in Oz

Run all filters inside vehicle so you can change 'em out regularly from the comfort of 'inside' and filter everything before it goes into your car or your body :flag:

Have fun........ I guess we would all want to do this trip.........

Also take a hint from why they moved the Dakar away from West Africa..........
Its the Adventure Travelers no go at the moment...unless you got a death wish or are mates with the French Foreign Legion. :icon_super:

get a country that actually does give a shit amd unnoficially repatriates you with anonymous men when it all goes terribly wrong irrespective of vehicle.

TBH forget the jeep and get an old toyota with MINIMAL electrics and as NB says all intakes routed to the inside.

this from the bloke that has convolutions when confronted with electrikery :hysterical:

it's not doom it's a reality born from experience, I've been stuck on a bus halfway between Joberg and Durban for 7 hours on a main road for the sake of a bit of hose, and they had spares for that and knew we was there, doesn't bear thinking about being stuck in hostile territory and needing spares that carry a premium

Convolution

In mathematics and, in particular, functional analysis, convolution is a mathematical operation on two functions f and g, producing a third function that is typically viewed as a modified version of one of the original functions. Convolution is similar to cross-correlation. It has applications that include probability, statistics, computer vision, image and signal processing, electrical engineering, and differential equations.

Nah, never......he aint THAT smart  :hysterical:
