We have finally decided to quit on the shitheap and Mrs BD will be using the Chief once the 6 seat conversion is done (unless we find a 7 seat ZJ/WJ in the the meantime), so i need to invest some cash in reliabilty after the fuel tanks are swapped over.
Im thinkin the start needs to be HEI dizzy with at least 8mm leads, plus a new coil, so at this point I have a few questions:
Is the DUI dizzy really worth the $300 without leads over the $139 with leads for a HEI dizzy?
And if not is a $50 master blaster II coil worth that sorta cash?
Have been reading about the HEI's that have hardened steel gears that chew up the factory cam gears - a likely fact or usual US forum doom mongers?
Any other thoughts?
Remember, this isnt about off road capability, altho I will still be using it off road, but about it starting each morning, running smoothly, and not stopping during the journey.
As usual, cheers doods :greggmo:

DUI IS HEI  tweked and assembled by a firm called davis

			-
i see, so basically not worth the extra

			-
Davis Unified ignition or some'at like that.
Meant to give 50thou of spark and stuff..........somewhere in the JP mags you got is an article of how they put DUI on a POS and made it run and give more MPG......

			-
yup dui is sexy hei is still miles better than the weak spark of stock set up

			-
including leads im lookin at $260 extra for dui, and that could go towards hedmans, so i reckon that means hei it is

Sort sparks and carb first................. headers are nice but only once the rest is sorted............... free flow exhaust system with H pipe will get you same bang for buck.
Headers might even lose you some torque thingies due to less back pressure............. the more knowledgeable might agree  or...........maybe I is wrong???
