hi all remember me the guy thats doing the uk to south africa trip in a jeep grand cherokee.
yes im bk thanks for all the help and negativity. well.
i have done it replaced my axles, im running isuzu trooper on rear and 97 wrangler on front and goin like dream and did the job my self and all for 500 pounds not bad and got my lift kit in.
so the impossible is possible. all needs doing is wheel spacers so i can run 5 lug patter thats on jeep and the new tyres and that side is finnished.
also for all the negative guys out there google the africa overland network and read what loads of ppl have done and enjoyed.

Yep, I don't think he did it, not that I'm negative or 'owt!

the early Isuzu 12 bolt is a rock solid axle, much better than the D44 they used on later models but the 12 bolt is a far bit shorter than the std GC axle as well as being 6 wheel bolts.
and by the way you shouldn't confuse concern for someones safety with negativity.

tis true waking up dead in the middle of the desert would generally not be a good thing plus not knowing you we cant tel wether your an ace with a spanner or malibu stacy
glad you did it dood i think i wouda just redone all axle bearings and just gone for it i quite like being told it cant be done

It sounds like some good work on sorting the axles out, well done.
Keep us updated with progress and show us how it's done. I'm still going to stay strip as many electrics out as possible but feel free to give me the finger - I've been told endless times to buy a wrangler or landrover if I want to do proper offroading and still I drive an XJ.
