Think if you can get GC springs from a V8 then you'll get a couple of inches.

If your after a budget lift then spacers and extended shackle kit could be the way forward,... but check your leafs first as if they are sagging now they will only get worse.

How much lift are you after and are you looking to fit bigger tyres? If so what size.

Hope this helps, Maf

the grand cherokee coil springs give a lift of approx 2" (google searching), the springs didn't change much throughout the model range apart from the spring rate (possibly). Ideally you might want to source a set from a similar aged vehicle.

Note: dont source the rears as they give even more lift and this is a common mod for GC owners to fit rear in the front for more lift

Thats wrong - the front ones are moved to the rear to give a 3" lift, as front ones are longer

Hi i have just done this to my 2.5 sport XJ but i got some used springs from the diesel XJ which gave me 2" lift from standard on the front and 1" on the rear above standard (they were used leaf springs) i have also ordered from the states via ebay a pair of adustable shackles which can give 1" to 2" lift just to level it out a bit.It drives alot better being a bit stiffer and has given no driveline tremors or vibration, i am new to XJ ownership and have found this forum very useful for the small mods i have done so glad to try and help out someone else.

hi all. my jeep is at the garage as i speak and  as just had a set of new leafs for a 1999 xj diesel fitted. i had bought a set of front coils off a 99-04 4.7 v8  gc wj and the garage has just rang me to inform me they won't fit as the ends of the coils are too wide. before they put it back together i want to either get some springs that will fit or get some spacers to level it out as i believe the diesel leafsmay give an inch or two lift.

what do people suggest i do? does anyone know how much if any difference there would be to leave it with old front coils and the brand new rear leafs? can anyone tell me what coils i can get that may give two or three inches lift?

i have a set of 30 inch tyres waiting to go on too. not sure what ti do for best and need to move fast as can't just leave it in bits at the garage.

thanks in advance for any advice or opinions,

tony.

You could fit a set of coil spring spacers to you front coils just to level it. They normally come in 1.5-2" size. A cheap option that will work and you might be able to get hold of some quickly.

what size would you recommend approximately. considering it's for a 1995 4.0 with brand new diesel leafs on rear and original coils on front? can't give an idea of actual ride heights unfortunately as don't have access to the vehicle tonight. thanks, tony.
