Title: Front rollbar in a early CJ
Post by: IrishCJ6 on November 19, 2011, 09:21:54 AM
Guys, I'm at the stage of planning my rollcage, the rear is easy, the front is proving more difficult. The problem I'm having is working out whether or not to dash mount or floor mount the front bar, being an intermediate CJ you have the park brake right where the leg of the cage would go to the floor also being an S shaped door opening any loss of space is noticable. I know there is a lot of comments that the dash mount is only for looks and wouldn't hold up in a rollover, but these comments tend to be from the US guys who seem to go crazy rolling down rocky mountains and not the general laid back bush bashing we do over here. So I would like comments from you guys on what to do, and also any photos of the front bars, especially where they meet with the park brake.

I like the poison spyder TJ cage system for space saving - it uses a flat plate from bottom of windscreen to floor. Not sure if that's even possible or relevant to a CJ I'm afraid but seen it in the flesh and seems strong and tight fitting.

My front hoop goes down to the floor, i can get my foot on the parking brake ok coming in from the side. If i use the standard hard doors however i cannot wind the windows down without opening the doors. This could be solved with shorter window winders but never got round to it.
