Title: Cherokee CRD 2004 - winter tyres
Post by: Simon J on December 03, 2011, 08:04:10 PM
I've just fitted a set of Yokohama Geolandar I/T+ GO71 winter tyres to my 2004 Cherokee and I can't believe the difference they have made. I had put a set of Avon Rangers on when I bought the Jeep last year as I was heading right across Europe and wanted to be sure that I had a decent set of boots on it, but having now fitted the Yokohamas they have simply transformed the ride. OK, temperatures here in the Balkans are now below 10 degrees most days and below zero over night so you'd expect a winter tyre to perform better than a regular 'summer' one, but the difference is astonishing. They are just so much smoother and quieter and we haven't even had any snow yet. OK, maybe the Avons aren't the best, and they did only cost 80 quid a corner, but seriously guys, if you're thinking of fitting winter tyres, you'd go a long way to do better than these Yokohamas. I've just sold my Avons and plan to fit Yokohama summer tyres when I return to the UK in the New Year.

And no, I've no connection with Yokohama - I just researched winter tyres on the internet and to some extent was constrained by what was actually available here in Kosovo, but they're worth every penny (sorry, eurocent).
