Any ideas, thoughts, experiences?
The Molotovs carpet has seen better days, as has the headliner, so Im thinking of sticking down some sort of sound/heat proof stuff and then sealing that down with some rubber matting, so before i go randomly shopping anyone used any that was durable and did what it was meant to (& didnt need a mortgage!)?
And to save y0u wasting time - no i dont want to strip it all out and go bare metal in the Chief, so yes Om aware that makes me a tart :003:
Cheers

sounds like your after a cheaper generic Dynamat, it will do what you want, reduce vibration and heat transfer but I wouldn't stick rubber to it, that may reduce its performance and will be a PITA to clean
shop around there are lots of alternatives like fat mat etc and most seem to do the same job for less, remember it is heavy so postage may be an issue

concrete

I used Rhino Liner on the Mafia for just such an application.

Is dynamat soft?
Im thinkin of makin it more of a return to the womb type environment so concrete of rhino liner isnt gonna tick the box

cabin decking

soft wont stop vibration, you need a dense tar type mat, it will stop heat and vib transfer, you can then fit an underlay on top of that
-
You can black roller Rhino Liner Blues :ace: :massage:

I used 2 layers of this on the tranny tunnel of the XJ. very effective.

any reason why you are saying that?
im thinking of laying the dynamat, then laying rubber over the top but only sealing that round the edges and few other points to keep it from slipping

Axeminster...

rubber onto the foil outer of the mat could cause condensation issues and any water that does get in will have a hell of a job evaporating. it may be fine but I personally would prefer a air gap between the rubber and the mat

Axeminster...
never a truer word spoken in jest :greggmo:
