Hi mate
welcome to Birtys!!
think this is a question for Bubba!!! No doubt he will be along in due course!!

-
are ya sure its engine oil???
-
what to you mean by changed it twice
-
I take it the seal you changed twice was the rear main oil seal? I presume it's in two halves as per the 304?
Did you thoroughly degrease the area before fitting the new seal?
Did you apply RTV to the ends of the lower half?
Did you let it all dry before filling up with oil and starting her up?
Bubba may I direct you to my scrounging post????
-
have you checked the engine breather is not blocked?
also check the thrust bearings when the engine is hot...........

yes the half moon rear seals at the bottom of the engine im sure im probably just not wating long enough for it all to dry.
what breather? how do i check the thrust bearings and where would i find them? ive never realy ventured into the engine before since i put it in.
-
so you did have the engine out to do the upper half of the rear main
-
no i didnt take the engine out i pocked the uper half round with a punch and then threaded the new one in.
-
Yea, I'd make sure the engine PCV set up is good. Have you noticed any other leaks like at the valve covers or at the oil fill cap?
And yea...welcome to Birtys!
-
:D
-
if you take the oil filler off when shes warm and runnin does she breath heavy if so you may be better off doin a ring job and cylinder hone .......but that said you arnt fitting the seal in the ideal way hence why i asked if the engine was out where are you located anyways
