Last night i was tootling along in my 97 Diesal Cherokee , when it lost power , made some nasty noises , and would not rev easily over 2,000 revs...
Today i had a quick look under the bonnet and saw that one of the rocker cover bolts was loose , something thats happened before when a pushrod has popped out of place due to a duff hydraulic adjuster....
What i would like advice on is....
Should i give the car a good thrashing with the stout towrope i keep in the car , or would a tree branch be more suitable....?
I also have a selection of yard brooms , metal poles , and large rocks if the experts think thats whats needed....

I find a sledge hammer is quite good........

my mates vm kept dropping a push rod so i took the rocker arm off and tig welded a 13mm peace of tube on the socket end of arm it stops the pushrod escaping

Yep..it may be time to have a few nuts welded on....
I rather like the sledgehammer idea tho...?

i welded some nuts on the rockers to improve the poor seat. worked fine and no more jumping pushrods
