Post by: wildwood on January 07, 2012, 11:55:58 AM
About to collect parts for new madness 2012 project.................. but first a quick question.

Which auto box is best behind a 4.0?

One from a Cherokee or Grand Cherokee................... or are they the same beast................. will have Dana300 behind so transfer case not an issue.

Just to get the crative juices going.........

Here's what's planned......... might as well call it 'Project Loose Change' cos that's what it will be.

Picking up a TJ year 2000 chassis that a mate has had sitting around for years....... free
Also collecting remains of tub of YJ from Panic ....£100

Keeping it cheap.......means that running the Viper V10 or LS6 or insert fantasy lump is dreamtime only.

So for more loose change a non mot cherry will donate engine trans computers and spaghetti.

than it gets a bit more spendy........

4 link f and r    hydraulic steering  Dana60 and 70 f and r (what else)!!

Tube frame from drivers butt to rear..........

This has come about cos I had a ride at speed over rough terrain in a similar rig and make my leafs hurt if ~I did the same. :icon_biggrin:

Will have to share wheels and tyres with the '1Ton' cos I can't afford to duplicate stuff (apart from axles)

So maybe one day i can blast across Kirton at 40 get air and land softly :hysterical: :hysterical:

Spat the dummy on pipe bending............ Got a spindle moulder  on the bay at the moment....if it sells I should be OK to buy JD3 and 2 dies and notcher and pipmaster needle angle finder thingies....... and then cages and stuff..will be mine oh yes...........

See...you can tell spring is on the way.....and SAD is behind me ...I almost feel happy :flag:

I have coilovers on the Mafia - they need reseating and are generally troublesome

I'm a bit worried about the nitrogen filling and balancing and stuff.. I guess I'm really looking for a simple gas filled coilover system with a heavy coil on the lower and tender coil or whatever terminology you care to use on the top.

There seem to be people using just airshocks but heard that with use they heat up and become less compliant. Got to be shade tree non expensive bullet proof type of thing............

If this don't exist looks like I'm back to the TJ system of  shock and separate coil :jpshakehead:

Then use coil and shox - trust me I have tried most things and for budget KISS works.
