Title: Soot in engine bay
Post by: jojo jeep girl on January 14, 2012, 02:55:44 PM
Hi All, I have small problem with 05 grand cherokee. Had head on collision on 17th December, drove car again on 19th december and smoke ++ from under bonnet. Told that turbo exhaust cracked hence the soot in engine bay. Insurance assessor reports turbo broken prior to collision. Jeep MOT'd 11/11/11 with no mention of turbo/ soot problem. Car was fine to drive prior to accident. Could the turbo have cracked due to impact ???
Thanks guys
Jo

tell em to sod off & fix it, take it to insurace ombudsman if need be, very likely the crash caused the break & it should have been picked up during the mot

It sounds absolute bollocks......sure the Jeep would fail its MOT due to emissions if it was broke beforehand...

Tell the insurance to fuck right off and demand its fixed...

Oh and if your Jeep is a WK youd notice if the turbo was fooked......Oh hang on just read 2.7....

Let us know how ya get on lass
