Title: Not Jeep but help required
Post by: Tank on January 15, 2012, 05:05:25 PM
Plenty of mechanics and even a few pretend mechanics on here so thought i would toss in this little dilemma i have with the Landrover and see if anyone can help or has a few ideas.

I have given the Landy a good polish, fitted the sliders and basically readied it for sale, but when giving it a run i noticed that there was blue smoke from the exhaust. Its worse when cold i think, and when warm seems less evident but still there and doesnt clear fully. It has a 300TDI fitted of unknown mileage.I know that smoke can be caused by several things and can be different colours, white usually water, black is diesel, blue is oil.Im thinking either head gasket or turbo but it doesnt overheat so would i be right to assume turbo? How easy to do,and whats the easiest way, second hand or rebuild? Anyone want to get oily with me as ive no idea what im doing? :lol_hitting: :lol_hitting:

take off oil filler cap and put your hand over the top you will feel a pulsing of air if it has.

I managed to do that today.Tried yesterday but battery not good so whipped it off to charge it.Anyway i started it up,opened filler cap and put my hand over and there was hardly anything to feel, when i took my hand off you can hear a kind of "pulse" but cant feel anything when i put my hand back over the hole so guessing the answer to sump pressure is no
