Title: 4.7 WJ LO/HO owners clarify please
Post by: Jeepjedi on February 06, 2012, 08:39:27 PM
I am looking at a snorkel after a heart pounding river crossing with massive potential to hydraulic my V8

I called UKArbil Ltd and was told they do a safari snorkel for the 4.7 but not the 4.7 HO. They are sending me some installation PDFS so i know what they are trying to supply, i have seen a couple of variations and wanna make sure i am sorting the correct thing

after looking at Jays engine bay his airfilter is positioned in the same place as mine, his being an HO and mine being LO (235 BHP low   :017:  :sign0023: )

Can any of you tell me if your airfilters are positioned anywhere other than shown in the photo below

i think they should be the same but will let someone confirm

make sure and use plenty of silicone sealer for all the holes in the airbox and you will need big balls when cutting the hole in the wing  :icon_biggrin:

LOL, I was wondering how close you got to a big boom from your avatar pic.

lookey here http://www.wjjeeps.com/ho_engine.htm (http://www.wjjeeps.com/ho_engine.htm)

there looks to be some small tweeks to the air box & resonator

i aint kidding steve, the seats needed a clean, the small hose that takes the intake up to the top of the front grill on my jeep has been removed to allow valve oil bottle so my intake is around about the bottom of my headlamp check out this pic  :diarrhea:

If you look on the Safari site, they are working on an HO kit. Didn't think there was a difference myself.

Yes looked at this

http://www.safarisnorkel.com/docs/snorkel/jeep.html (http://www.safarisnorkel.com/docs/snorkel/jeep.html)

And also found this too

http://www.rocky-road.com/grandsnorkel.html (http://www.rocky-road.com/grandsnorkel.html)

Not sure if its all the same kit

seems from a snorkle point of view the only difference is the air intake to the lower airbox, you shouldn't have a problem JJ as the Safari one is made for yours (don't buy from RR tho)

Indeed we did check the depth, well sent Gaz in first lol.

TBH Nick you probably would have been ok at Great Alne crossing Just, Ice breaking was a laugh as Gaz found out.

Think the ZJ could do with a snorkel as well, looking at this pic I wouldn't want to go much deeper.
