I very weirdly find myself with some Jeep pampering cash and better spend it before im redundant and skint - blaze of glory and all that :icon_super:
and have been thinkin I may bite the bullet and buy the 4.88 regear stuff for the Bastard's D44's, but before I just ring up randys is there any other recommended sellers/suppliers? anyone in the uk worth trying?
Also, is it worth coughin the extra $100 for randys yukon for instance over randys bog standard stuff?
And also if the £'sss stretch a rear locker - lockrite? richmond? spartan? others? Im not going mad big bucks on owt fancy.
As much info as poss please as this aint a cheap spend.
Cheers gents :greggmo:
-
have used thier Yukon stuff, nice kit, dunno the price difference or if its worth the premium tho
-
I managed to break a Yukon set once but that had contributing factors.
Did you think about running a spool? Cheap, strong and ultra reliable?
-
Er me thinks he'll be driving on the road so maybe not such a plan
-
The difference between the expensive stuff and cheaper stuff is NOISE
Just bought some USA alloy 5.38s $200..if I could have got OE (can only go to 5.13 in OE factory stuff)the cost would have been $400
JP.........Ha where have I heard of them? got currie or some place to do USA alloy stuff on their TJ and they have a machine that runs gears up to working temp to break in and check, also measures decibels..............anything under 110 is ok the USA alloy stuff on the rear of the TJ came in at 90 db.
Guess if you were running some caddy eldorado then you might want to run factory super quiet but they said they couldn't hear it under their TJ so jobs a goodun..................
So my personal opinion is go cheap and buy the install kit, bearings and spacers and ring bolts etc................ and fit lockrite up the rear
same up front if ya got hubs...or not if ya quadratrac :icon_biggrin:
-
Oh lawd, anuva new word :011:
whats a spool then?
Will is right tho, evry birty event is at least a 300 mile round trip and there are no p&p sites in kent now so a day out is at least a 70 mile round trip
Cheers Jez - 5.9 or 6.6 V8 wiv straight thru pipes and 35" mud tyres shud make quiet and xpensiv pointless, so its cheap and noisy for me :icon_super:
-
A spool is simply a piece of steel that attaches the ring gear to both wheels with no moving parts!!!!! Excellent off road but not great for street use.

I have the same issue living in Norfolk, would love to go the Breakout but I cant afford a 540 mile trip at the moment.
-
I reckon you should just get a new set of tyres Ade.... :greggmo:
-
Really? What like a set of 35x12.50x15 baja claws wiv 15mm tread for v little cash?

:lol_hitting: only got round to noticing that today and happy with that, MTZ better choice for the 7 seein as its not gonna be a winter truck

Ok, tech genius reassurance req - the tech doods at summit (or maybe the photocopy boy) told me Im after these, but they dont come with my year, so is two of these what Im after for the Molotov (1979 w/t Chief dana 44's):
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SAG-D44489/ (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SAG-D44489/)
I done the research and 4.88 is the gearing that I want. Altho it appears to me I can find 4.56 but not 4.88 (Randys suggested 4.88 but their customer service sucks!)
and is the right install kit:

Once 'we' have agreed on this I will be back for locker confirmation :003:
Cheers

I would say you would want the carrier bearings too, but then thats just me, oh and i reckon you'll need 3 r&ps and 1 rc r&p. Thanks :003:
-
