Title: Length of serpentine belt without AC 1997 Mk2 Cherokee 4.0 RHD
Post by: Green Jeep on February 29, 2012, 04:09:59 PM
Hi,

Looking to bypass the AC pump as i've junked the condenser to get better airflow on punch hunt truck.

Any ideas on the length I'd need, ball park figure would help as factors can send a few to try.

Thanks in advance Maf

should this not be the same length as a tj/yj without air con?, altho I think they have an idler pulley in place of the pump.

Gates micro-v 6PK2238 68464 is the belt i used to bypass my aircon when compressor died on my 94 4ltr. Depends on the pulley layout you have though.

Parts list shows only one belt used for 97 RHD XJ so a/c or not. A pulley off a non a/c XJ would mean the same size belt could be used. Can't the compressor be left with the clutch disengaged or are you junking it all completely? Looking at the routing diagram in the parts list I'd say it's best to have a pulley wheel there to make sure the fan pulley has enough grip to prevent slippage.
