Does anyone know how to remove the air filter box on the kj? I need to get at the top of the shock absorber which sits under this box. There are no visible screws or bolts.
-
No 100 percent sure on the KJ but most air boxes just have pins in the bottom that fit into rubber grommets. All you need is a bit a brute force and pull them out normally.

G'day Bazz,
Must be in those technical manuals surely :icon_eek:

My thoughts were that you could muscle it out, but didn't want to try and then bust the bloody thing! Those manuals seem to deal with everything but this subject..just talks about filter replacement/removal is all.
-
Info: as Delk said, the box is held in by those rubber grommets..took a lot of muscle to get the bugger out though!
The bloody workshop manual instructions make it look like a doddle...just remove the airbox and undo the shock mounting bolts..easy..yeah, right..what about the power steering reservoir [where you need to have hands and fingers the size of a six year old girl to get to the nuts] and all the bloody hoses ya gotta take off first!!!! And that's just the drivers side....took me fours hours today to do what I thought would be an hours work!! And I still have to put it all back together!
Bugger this, must be beer time. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :icon_jook: :icon_jook:

most of them are bolted through the grommet, from underneath,
well they are on xj's and wj's

The airbox or the shocker?

It would have made life a lot easier for me if it did bolt from the bottom, but no, just the rubber grommets from the top....ended up with a long screwdriver under it, to lever it up and out.
