Title: Spools
Post by: IrishCJ6 on March 19, 2012, 07:46:11 PM
I'm considering putting one in my CJ6, now I've read most of the info and seen the comments given, anyone got any first hand experience of one in a long wheel based Jeep. I know they can be a little bit of a handfull in SWB vehicles but thought it would be a good choice for my 6.

Opinions and comments welcomed

I had one in the back of my TJ for a years. It was not so bad on the road unless I had two very fat people in the back. Then I just didn't want to steer in parking lots when going slow. Probably wouldn't be as bad with a long wheel base rig. The road manners at speed were fine and much better then the Detroit I have now. Since it was locked all the time the jeep was very predictable and not harsh or jumpy.

Spool, detroit on the back are king in all situations............................ but not on front................. have had lockrite on front and that tends to steer wide when under power as it locks up. and an ARB that you can control, and also 2 low on a 231 which also helps................

and you can go on..................... cutting brakes for each rear wheel...................... at the end of the day its as much as you can justify £££$$$

but its fun getting there :icon_twisted: :icon_super:

Bang a Lockrite in the back.

Easy to install and will do the job just fine.  I've got one (or two) on the shopping list for mine.
