Title: Non starter
Post by: MK1 on January 29, 2006, 05:38:14 PM
Went out this morning to the XJ, a wiggle of the gear shift and off she goes as normal. Tried again 20 mins later and NOTHING.

All the wigglin' and pullin' and pushin' of the gear shift and still nothing.

Adjusted the neutral switch, nothing. Did the continuity test from the manual. Got continuity in P and N (sometimes) positions but not anywhere else. It's always been a bit akward and would only start in P will the wiggle. Does it need continuity across the whole range for the switch to operate?

Is there any way of bypassing the neutral switch or 'hotwiring it'

Panic over, for the short term.

Took the switch off, wound it over to the park position and she started.
