Cant identify pads fitted to rear disc brake conversion for XJ,does anyone know if they can be re-lined and where, thanks. :017:
-
Take an old pad to your local motor factor and they should be able to id it using the master catalogues from Ferodo etc [they have profile picture of all pads}
If you dont have a friendly factor PM me a scan of the pad and I will have a go.
-
My local only deals with reg numbers,if you don't have that then its like hitting a brick wall. Thanks for the offer, will probably have to take you up on it. Calipers are marked "Varga"
-
No problem.........try and give dimensions as well and it shouldnt be a problem.
-
sounds like they come from the vw audi fraternity to me.
-
have a look at this page (http://stores.ebay.co.uk/The-Quality-Factor/Braking-Brake-Pads-/_i.html?_fsub=10598518&_sid=198255641&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322) may be a short cut to identifying them for you
-
Its none of them, but thanks for looking. Pad material is riveted, wonder if its older model vehicle ? :017:
-
take a pic of caliper and pad and post on here and if they are from vag group I may recognise them , I'll pm you my mobile number and you can just send them there if you prefer

Thanks to Classicjeep, mini metro pads, thanks again .

Just for reference I dug around and found the ssbc kit and my calipers are from 1988 ford Thunderbird Turbo and a few other ford vehicles of the time.Still available to buy at around £70 each with pads. :greggmo:
-
even cheaper from RockAuto :icon_winkle:

Still available to buy at around £70 each with pads. :greggmo:
is that price from a UK seller ?
-
No,but looking for uk source.
Uk,£118 inc Vat,still not bad,or you can get all seals and hardware to rebuild them. :icon_biggrin:
-
im sorry to hear you are afflicted with mini metro pads Norm :icon_eek:
but good work on the ssbc :icon_super:
-
Lol, still got to be better than xj rear drums full of mud. :jpshakehead:
-
yup, ssbc is spensive but works :greggmo:
-
round 2 of ssbc tomorrow
-
make sure you dont adjust that rod on the servo/master cylinder mate, as you well know it caused me many probs :greggmo:
-
i have backed it of half a turn to be sure of some fre play on the rod to prevent pump up
-
These new shafts weight a ton, but looking at them the holes where the studs go are threaded??
-
thats not going to work with you pressed ones
-
Thanks to Classicjeep, mini metro pads, thanks again .
I saw this and instantly thought " Ah, SSBC".
My SSBC rear disc kit has had Metro pads in it for years, almost identical to '88 T-Bird Turbo.
-
Lol, wish you had seen the thread at the start.
