Title: CJ chassis info
Post by: lwbcj6 on June 01, 2012, 03:46:13 PM
Could anyone help out with a little chassis info?
I phoned a galvanizing firm down here in devon just to price up getting the cj chassis done but when i did they hit me with two questions that i couldnt answer.

1. What does the chassis weigh approximately? as they price by weight and not size.

2. Is the chassis cast? as if it is then they dont recomend galvanizing as it apparently doesnt take very well due to the temperatures involved in the process.

and as its about the same size as a 90/series lardrover I would think they can get a good guess them selves.

The weight they mention is how much weight of zinc you take off them and not the weight of the item. :icon_winkle:

If i remember correctly My cj8 chassis was £200 to galv for pound notes and that was based on a landy chassis at the time (about two years ago)

Thanks for the idea on price.
The weight was definitely of the chassis though which i thought was strange as surely its easier to work out the surface area of an item for coating by using the measurements instead but they were adamant they needed the weight.   :017:
