My mate has a ZJ with said type of locker in rear axle,
No experience of this type of locker, so we have noticed that when turning left or right just on tickover without pressing the loud pedal the rear axle is jumping, should it do this? :017:
and if it shouldnt do this, is it knackered or servicable
-
It's a hard locker so yes this is normal.

Good news thanks IOM

How do you mean jumping?
Should just click a little, should be smooth... sounds like it might not be set up right, thrust washers missing/too thin/poor condition... what oil is in there?
I have front and rear aussie lockers and perfect road manners.... cheers Maf

The tyre on one side jumps / skips depending which way you are turning

Yeah but you think dressing like a woman and hanging round in bars to pick up men is normal.
And yet i still fall for it every time :jpshakehead:

Shouldn't be doing that, you should just hear a clickin noise as the locker opens to allow the wheels to move on tarmac, Aussie Locker's tech guys are very helpful, have you measured the gap in the centre? They don't come with thrust washers and we made the mistake of first fitting them without, this gave the problems you discribe, once we refitted with thrust washers all worked perfectly, have had the set up (front and rear) in three different Jeeps, if your stripping down worth buying the little dowls from aussie locker as they do wear and if not set up properly they will wear even quicker, hope this helps, Maf
