At last I've got my ex Iraq CJ-5 at home.
It's VIN no. identifies it as 1978.
During the restoration I want to convert to RHD.
A quick look and I cann't see anything too difficult to adapt.
I accept normally it's not worth doing but there are so many parts missing that keeping LHD isn't going to save much money in the end (I want PAS as well).
At present, with LHD steering box, the LH steering arm takes one ball joint and RH steering arm takes two ball joints.
The steering box drag link attaches to RH steering arm.
Anyone tell me with RHD CJ's is it the reverse ie LH steering arm takes two ball joints and RH take one ball joint or are the same arms use for both RHD & LHD with just the drag links being different ?
Thanks.

It's reverse, and the double ball joint on nearside joint is a bit hard to get hold of. Been a couple of RHD cj7 scrapers on E-bay of late, would have been useful for you.

Bugger.!
I was hoping that I wouldn't have to track down a RHD steering arm.
BTW.
I'm a Land Rover enthusiast who wants a change. When we picked the CJ-5 project up yesterday a freind, another LR enthusiast, help'd.
Later, back home, he had a good look and I reckon he'll be looking for a Jeep himself !

light house will have all the parts you want, i think i have them somewhere

Leave it LHD if you can live with it. There's much more stuff available for LHD trucks.

Problem is I'm disabled with left leg problems so getting in drivers seat on LHD is far more difficult that RHD so I haven't really got any option other than to convert.

Ahh! I see your point.

I think I've found an alternative to swopping the steering arm when converting to RHD.
Looking at various sites I came across this -

Anyone think of a reason why not do use this method ?
Thanks.
