Title: What is this bit in my engine bay. Sounds like the bearings are grumbling

What part is this?

I have located it to this bit that is making the noise.

Post by: alienator on June 15, 2012, 10:25:52 PM: Take first belt off and double check what making noise.In my case that was A/C bearing.Most peoples told me I have to change A/C compresor but I found one guy one ebay.com with bearing for 30 $(only one person selling them lol).So hopfully this gonna work.30 $ vs 250 £ for compresor is worth it to try.Goodluck;)

Post by: jay140285 on June 16, 2012, 12:31:46 AM: Thanks for the advice, 99% sure its this idler as I had the big screwdriver on all the parts, alternator, air con, idler etc and the noise is most apparent on the idler.
