Hi guys,
just wondered as anyone converted a manual TJ to an auto, what parts are needed and is it a big job?
the main reason i ask is..
im looking for a nice TJ for serious offroading, as the mod parts are quiet pricey, i've kind of told myself it might be worth getting one thats been quiet heavily modified, all the ones that have come up for sale seem to be manual,
i look forward to your thoughts..

best way to build an off roader is build it yourself, otherwise you may just be wasting money paying over the top for mods you will never use.
There are a few auto's around that pop up in ebay and its just a case of keeping an eye out for them and getting in there quick.
As for the swap you would need tranny, pedal box, transmission controler and maybe even engine management and associated wiring to get it to all talk to eachother. Never done it myself but Know in the US they like to swap in the cherokee 4 speed auto and use a manual electronic gear selector.

Stu offroad has a thread about it. But if you hold on, I know of a well sorted MSA comp spec TJ just about to come on the market.....
