Perm 4WD
M - 26+ cruise on at 75
T - 15 with a heavy foot :003:
-
get a tune up :icon_winkle:
-
Are you serious Lornaben? 26+ when cruise on 75mph
-
jeepjedi who you want to tune up?
-
According to the computer I average 17.1mpg, and that's a lot of short journeys in country lanes, plus about 40 minutes on fairly hilly 60mph roads a few days per week. I do like to make use of overtaking lanes though, particularly when some idiot in a lowered Corsa thinks that he out-accelerate me going up a large hill! :003:
Forgot to mention - that's in full-time 4wd

thanx brynjaminjones. is it something wrong with mine xj or my style of driving. i did 13.5 on motorway in pensioner way. maybe it was to slow

Yep. serious.
Don't forget your Jeep is telling you american mpg, you need to convert it to real mpg (imperial) your 22 is really 26.4 :icon_winkle:

my on board comp says just the temp and direction im going cause its 96 model. i did calculate it. i did fill to full, then i drive 26o miles on motorway -had to go pick up tyres- and re fill to full again. on receipt i had quantity of petrol i have refill and had a mileage of my journey. i did calculate it in km/100kilometers and converted it to imperial mpg. its still to much, dont you think?

Mines a ZJ but same basic engine and I get 31mpg at 65mph and 18mpg around town with my normal sedate driving, using the loud peddle it's single figures.
and there is a full set of calculators here on Birtys (http://www.birtydastards.com/frm/index.php?action=ezportal;sa=page;p=21)

If it were me, I would follow Mr Jedi and get a tune and a full service first. Something as simple as a cruddy air cleaner element can cause high fuel consumption..and so can the wrong tyre pressures!
Start with the simple things and work your way up. :icon_winkle:
-
What is fuel consumption?? It needs fuel you put it in!!!!
-
:imwitstupid:
-
if it s that bad it could be down to the Oxygen sensor not working or on its last legs
-
When you can get 65 miles to 75 litres of lpg then you have to worry. (fucked stat) Your mpg sounds about right for a normal xj. I run around 13 mpg average.
-
i get 14 mpg n0 matter how i drive, cant remember the last time i did over 55 mph,
its about 150 miles per tank, big tyres on an offroader,
-
motorway- 4x4 ft at cruise control set on72mpg -22mpg
town -Londons rush hours 4x4ft -15mpg
-
:iagree:
i got the same with 33's and 6" lift
got it in the 10 when heavy on the right foot
-
:017: upps, i have no mods-just mud tyres. looks bad. before test changed filters and oil, plugs -looks ok-did not change. should i do it?
-
swmbos xj averages 18-20 mpg :steeringwheel:
-

on the overhead thing i get 16 normal 20 on a run so buy the time you convert the figures its still thirsty
-
20 mpg average is about right.
New spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor arm, air filter and O2 sensors can all help with mpg but it's never going to be economical
-
4ltr 2 door xj with a manual box does 16 around town and i can get 30 if i drive just below 70 on the motorway.
-
thank you all for answers. f.ck it. tomorrow will drive to Poland and next week coming back. it looks like no caffee stops on the way -just petrol station. heheh. that's life.:001:
