i have bought my '96 xj 4.0 HO 1.5 months ago with orange light ABS on. ABS doesn't work confirmed when hardly stopped in the rain. heheh -hopefully nothing happens. whats the reason - sensor or something else, how to check and where in London or west of it?
thanx

hello? anybody? please

the light is confirming what you already know, the abs don't work.
that doesn't mean the brakes don't work, just not as effective on a sharp stop so drive accordingly.
can't help with places for repair, sorry, not my area

The orange light tells you the ABS system most likely wont work. The brakes will work as normal and if you press the pedal hard enough on a poor surface then you will most likely lock the wheels.
An ABS systems works as an additional safety system to prevent the wheels from locking. Take the wheels off and clean the wired sensor next to the castled ring on the wheel hub drive shaft. These are a simple magnet which will have lots of crud covering the sensor, when cleaned could solve your problems
