Lets see if you guys can help me :003:
The steering on the XJ has been lightly knocking during some turns for a while now.
I finally just had a proper look at the MOT advisories, and one of them is that the "Drop arm bottom ball joint" is worn. Am I right in thinking that is the same thing as the drag-link end??
If so, might it be likely that that's what's causing my steering knock? May it also create play in the steering?
Finally, how hard/expensive/urgent would that be to fix?
Cheers! :greggmo:

Yes that could cause the knock
there simple to change but can be a pain to get out of the tapper socket in the knuckle
you need to count how many times you turn it to unscrew it and screw new one in the same number of times to keep the steering strait
the joints are about 15
Get the mot place to clarify what they mean

Brilliant, thank you! :003:
I'll ask my mechanic about it when I'm next home. :greggmo:

:hysterical: Definitely not!! My dad doesn't have the slightest clue when it comes to anything vaguely technical - I take the XJ directly to an actual mechanic (and I pay for it!)!! :003:
